The people of state of Telangana are very poor.  Many of them exist on $2.00 a day.  Father became aware that some of the older people who could no longer work were either going without food, in effect starving, or were being reduced to begging.  To alleviate this problem, Father now gives packets of food to those in dire need on the fifth day of each month.
